What was life like at The Collegiate School for Girls in 1959? In many ways it resembled those that had come before, at least for returning students — a year framed with familiar faces and cherished traditions against the backdrop of Monument Avenue.
An important part of the new school year was the issuing of new student handbooks. Filled with rules and regulations both large and small, these short guides set the tone for the upcoming year, reinforcing expected behavior and establishing guidelines for school traditions. The 1958 edition, assembled by the Upper School Honor Council, included a new honor code and pledge.
Student government organizations like the Upper School Honor Council, along with numerous clubs and extracurricular groups were an important part of student life through out the year.
